Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE) has been granted approval by the Ministry of Education and Training to implement the joint Master's program with Leipzig University of Applied Sciences (HTWK Leipzig) in accordance with Decision No. 2431/QD-BGDDT, dated August 29, 2022. To further clarify the program, HUCE would like to provide the following details for the 5th intake (2024-2026):
I. PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:
- HTWK Leipzig is the largest university in Saxony and one of Germany’s leading universities, ranked in the top 130 in Europe according to the 2018 World University Rankings.
- The program does not require an entrance examination; applicants only need to submit an application and attend an interview in English at HUCE.
- Tuition and living costs in Germany are significantly lower compared to many other European countries, with high-quality education offered.
- Students have the opportunity to visit other European countries and are also allowed to pursue part-time employment in Germany, gaining valuable work experience for future career opportunities.
- The program provides flexible study schedules that allow students to work part-time while studying.
- Guidance is provided regarding visa applications, health insurance, accommodation, and banking services in Germany.
II. GENERAL INFORMATION:

Admission Criteria:
- There are no specific quotas for admission.
- Specialisation: Structural Engineering.

Program Duration and Structure: Total program duration: 20 months over 2 years, with 10 months each year as follows:
- Phase 1: From September 2024, studying at HUCE, lasting 16 months (64 ECTS credits), taught by Vietnamese lecturers.
- Phase 2: From September 2025, studying at HTWK Leipzig, lasting 8 months (30 ECTS credits), including thesis work (including practical research), supervised by lecturers from HTWK.
III. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
- Age under 35.
- English language proficiency: B2 level (according to European standards or equivalent as per Ministry of Education and Training guidelines).
- Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transport Engineering, or Marine Engineering.
IV. FINANCIAL INFORMATION:
- Tuition for the first year at HUCE: VND 85-90 million per year, depending on the number of students (for international students: approximately VND 90-95 million per year).
- For the second year in Germany: Tuition plus service fees (approximately 6650 Euros per year), which includes accommodation, meals, and health insurance (approximately 853 Euros per month, according to Germany’s financial regulations). The total cost for the second year is around 17,000 Euros (subject to slight adjustments based on exchange rates; proof of financial means is not required).
V. APPLICATION DOCUMENTS:
- Application form (as per the template).
- Certified copies of the Bachelor's degree and transcript (in both English and Vietnamese).
- Curriculum vitae (CV) with a photo, written in English.
- English proficiency certificate (TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent).
- Health certificate (in Vietnamese).
- Certified copy of the birth certificate (in Vietnamese).
- Official academic transcripts from previous institutions.
- Copies of passports and photographs (in English).
VI. REGISTRATION AND SELECTION:
- Applications are accepted from March to August each year (register directly at the ICCEC or via email).
- Applicants will participate in an interview and selection process by HUCE’s Admission Council, which is expected to take place in August or September each year at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering.
